Polyaspartic floor coating is new in polymeric coating system. Polyaspartic, polyurethane and polyurea coatings comparison

These three "poly" coatings are quite related as they are all made through the isocyanate reaction with a resin. Polyaspartic reacts with diamine, polyurea reacts with amine and polyurethane with polyol. It is the resin that makes them different. Basically, polyaspartic coating is a type of polyurea coating.


These coatings have many characteristics in common, but they still have different construction and application requirements and capabilities. The coatings also have some own defects, like polyaspartic coating cures fast and reacts quickly when component A and B are mixed and it can be constructed at a lower thickness than polyurea and polyurethane owing to its lower moisture transmission rate; polyurea coating is not resistant to UV light and will discolor; polyurethane is more sensistive to temperature and moisture.
